Subject: Barista Jams in Toronto

Hey everyone, I am a new member to the forums and I am posting to see if there are any baristas on the forum who are interested in starting a monthly barista jam in the Toronto. I know that Manic Coffee held one in March of this year, but I can't find any information on any others, past or upcoming. I think having a monthly jam would be a great way for Toronto baristas to meet one another in person and share ideas and techniques, sort of help each other out. There are a lot of great specialty cafes in the city so the jams could be held at a different location each month to keep things interesting.

If anyone is interested in helping me set this up or giving suggestions you can email me at tantoronto AT gmail DOT com, or just post in this thread.

Thanks

Hi Craig,

thanks for the welcome. I am familiar with the Academy, and I plan to attend one of more of the sessions and workshops in the near future. However, I am thinking of these gatherings in a more informal way, for fun, and also to have the Jams be open to the public. People can come in and watch us churn out awesome espressos and create latte art. It would be a way to get people interested in specialty coffee in general and also to highlight the skills of local baristas, as well as garner some publicity for small, independent cafes in Toronto. I think I will contact a number of the cafes in the city myself to see if they want to lend a hand in organizing and sustaining a monthly barista jam here.
