I tried Daterra as a SOS today.

I don't know what to think.  The temp was off on each shot I pulled.  First one was too hot, second too cold, third a tad too hot, then I had to go to work and couldn't tune it in anymore.

I seemed to notice a heavy caramel type tone, with some unidentifiable fruit in there.  I couldn't get the tastes down right though, because of trying to find the right temp.

Has anyone seen a flavor profile for Daterra anywhere?  I dont care which roaster.  Just a general idea to see what i should typically expcet from this.

Do you have any idea which product of Daterra it is?

Some are Sweet Yellow, Yellow Bourbon, Reserve #?, Bruzzi, Sunrise, Pearl, Vila Burgesi, etc

There's a wide range of flavors you can get from these different coffees. In general it should be very sweet, low acid, chocolate-like, huge depth, potential marzipan, potential soft fruit (I get Beaujolais Nouveau-like lush sweet cherry, which can be gamey and varies depending on Daterra's aim) and potentially clean/clear. These are just my own personal and general descriptors I've found in different Daterra coffees off the top of my head. Not the be all and end all here.

Is it from last year's crop? If so, it'll have much heavier body, and potential leather-like aromas etc. Edit: and the fruit and "life" of the seed could have become completely tertiary or disappeared depending on how it's been stored over the course of the year.

You potentially have a jewel, wish I could explore it with you.

Daterra Sunrise Attributes

Acidity - Mild & Sweet, very aromatic.

Aroma - Almond frangrance & chocolate mixed with flowers

Bitterness - A sweet-bitter flavor, a positive attribute in dark brown roasting (no oils).

Body - Smoooooooth consistency, texture & density.

Flavor - A strong perception of a bitter-sweet chocolate.

Sweetness - A pleasant sweet sensation ...  typical of dry-natural coffees.

Crema - A striped brown caramel, velvet air bubble foam! Visually stunning!

Aftertaste - Lingering of flowers & marzipan

Nate, wish i could have answered this earlier, but today was crazy busy.  Hopefully you will see this before tomorrow morning.

Any chance you will be at the NYBOT for Daterra's presentation & cupping this coming Tuesday?  Maybe we can say hello.

I'm actually going to catch their Wednesday presentation (I'll actually be doing the sample roasts for it. Pray for good roasts!). It seems we're going to miss each other by a hair! Perhaps at some industry conference we'll meet through this connection?
