Subject: Terroir's Southern Daterra at Simon's Coffeeshop - really terrific right now

I've been a steady consumer of Terroir's Southern Daterra for the past two years or so - at home, at Simon's Coffeeshop in Cambridge, and occasionally at True Grounds in Somerville (although their espresso is typically sub-par).  This morning, Ben Kaminsky at Simon's pulled two of the best shots of that coffee that I've ever had.  I'd actually only planned on having one shot - but the first double was so good, I couldn't help myself.  Heck, if they'd had a defibrillator on standby, I'd have gone three or four deep.

Both shots were incredibly creamy, smooth, and clean, with some terrific notes of hazelnut and pecan.  The ashy and bitter notes that have detracted from the Southern Daterra in the past were almost completely absent.  I'd previously found some great hazlenut flavors in this coffee with milk, but this is the first time that I've experienced them so clearly in a straight espresso.  And for anyone who thinks goopy ristrettos are the only way to go, these shots at Simon's will be a real eye-opener.

Any espresso fans in the Boston / Cambridge area, run over to Simon's right now - these shots were the best I've had in months.

Was at Simon's yesterday and had similar experience with Simon pulling the shots
Wanted one double espresso, but it was so good I had to get two more
I think the main change was the move to 13gr dose

Do you meant to say they are pulling the shots at 13g at Simon's? I don't know about Simon, but Kaminsky is pulling the shots at 16g.

When I was there Simon was just trying the 13gr dose
I don't know if he decided to go with it or if Ben is using the same dose
