hi! i just want to relay this info. i have been using illy whole bean for my expresso. as of now i don't order beans on line and like going to a location and physically purchasing my coffee. i tried several alternatives that i can find locally i.e. Peets, coffee bean and leaf and organic at whole foods but no go as compared to illy and i end up back with illy whole bean. the other day i was in Trader Joes and i like their products and "prices" (p.s. i have been using a can of illys a week at $10.95 a pop)so i saw this whole bean called "Colombia Supremo" at trader joes and it said "premium arabica no robusta used" on the can and "Colombias highest grade coffee" with sweet full flavor and it was $3.99 for 14 ounces as opposed to illy $10.99 for 8.8 oz !! I figured what could i lose so i take it home and grind up some and i immediatly notice it grinds up great and smooth and even. Then i tamp it and i notice it tamps great smooth and even. Then i pull a shot and "massive crema" like the picture from coffeekid review of the Solis 70 machine i.e. "go guiness" with lots of body to the shot. Then i taste it and "sweet" with no bitterness !!
Man i am sold on this and for your info the can has picture of Parrats in a tree and it's called Colombia Supremo $3.99 per can !! wow !! Glenn

Ok you are on the path of no return.  Just finished a very good cup of supremo-bought beans for around $2#-most suppliers charge about 4-6 but you have got to start roasting-then you can discover dozens of different beans at a much better price.

Read the how to's on this site and others - bet yourself a corn poppoer-have patience and you will be rewarded.

Hi, just registered. I recently began home roasting and I'm pretty "green." What type of beans/blend would you recommend?
