I've largely been buying blends from two So Ca roasters, Klatch (mostly Belle) and Calabria, although occasionally I get some Black Cat too. Particularly with the Calabria, when I've had shots pulled off commercial grade machines there is (to me) a distinct nutty flavor that's a real highlight. I've played with pressure, temp, grind etc on my Rocky/Silvia setup and, although I get what i think of as nice shots, I can't quite figure out how to pull out that nutty accent.
I realize barista skills may be part of the issue here, but my question is-are there blends readers of this forum could recommend where this quality is more pronounced (or perhaps more readily extracted?). Thanks-I've gotten so much useful info from this site. Great resource!

Hi Jeff, my suggestion would be to not go with a blend adn find a SO Brazil. Nuttiness is an almost gaurenteed with any Brazil. I had one from Counter Culture that was very Nutty and unbelievably creamy; just looked on their site though and didn't see it offered any longer. Can't vouch for others as that was the only commercially roasted one I've tried, but perhaps find a brazil from a noted roaster and see how that works for you.

I'm not so sure about how nutty you will think this roast is but roasted nuts and cocoa are very prevalent and low acidity creating a very smooth, sweet and tasty espresso.
I highly recommend the SO (Brazil) espresso Click Here (www.clivecoffee.com) from Clivecoffee.com. They have the roast dialed in. You are very close to them and shipping is very reasonable. Great people too!

Caffe Lusso's Espresso blend is one of my regulars: click here. I'd describe it as chocolate, caramel, and nutty (I think hazelnut). I've never pulled it on a rocky/silvia setup, so I don't know how well the nuttiness comes through.

Catching up on CG and wanted to add quick capstone to this post.
Mainly, thanks for the tip on the Clive's coffee. I ordered their Brazil Organic Mogiana and it produced the best shots I've had yet from my set up. all that sweet nutty flavor was there. more is on the way.
I also tried the Caffe Lusso and it gave very good shots, although with the combination of me pulling off rocky/silvia mainly got chocolate flavors and not the hazelnut. produced a really tasty cap however. reminded me of the roast i get from caffe calabria in san diego.
thanks again to all; much fun to try new blends and actually taste differences.
