Does anyone out there knows how to buy beans directly from them?

I imagine they don't have an online setup for this sort of thing.

You can call them at 206.329.4214.  You're in for a treat though: the shot in my avatar was pulled with their beans: that shot was the richest, reddest, most sensuous shot I think I've ever pulled.  If you talk with John H, or Adam, tell them Jimmy from Victoria says hi!

Good luck.  I hope the 4 pounds of beans I got from them is enough to hold me over until next time i visit them!

Here's a commemorative picture I took the other day upon the arrival of Hines' SPRO and Decaf SPRO.  A day worthy of a picture.

Now I've tried several different espressos from a variety of roasters like: Key Woodmakers, Mayorga Suave, Intelligentsia Black Cat, Vivace Vita and Dolce, D'arte Firenze but as I was dialing in the SPRO, the level of complexity, flavor, sweetness and tastes I am uneducated enough to explain started showing through.

Definitely call them and see about ordering a pound or ten!

So do you think the Hines Espresso is more complex than the black cat?  Would you call the Black Cat a dark roast (I'm only making an assumption based on the name, BLACK cat)?

The Hines to me was complex and sweet.  My next major purchase will be some BC to compare to my experience of Hines.

Thank you for giving me the info on how to order Hines blend. I received it on Thurs and it was great. I would not call it  more complex than Black Cat,  just different in terms of the competing flavors on your palate.  I think that Lighthouse is closer to Black Cat (little darker) with no spicy tones  like Black Cat have at the end.  Nevertheless I think that Hines is outstanding, with more caramel tones at the end.

Hi Corsican,

Thanks for your review.  I just broke into my Lighthouse blend, I think I agree with your conclusion too - more caramel notes with Hines, while Lighthouse is more pure chocolate, smooth, not spicy.

Can't wait to check out Black Cat.   Thanks again!
