I just finished a 5lb bag of Brazil Sweet Blue, after loving my first 5lbs of Red Bird Blend. I mainly brewed it in the Krups Moka Brew, plus some vac pot and Aeropress. It was chocolatey, but a dry bittersweet cocoa kind of chocolate that I enjoyed, but found a little one-dimensional. I missed the nutty flavors that I loved in the Red Bird blend.
I'd like to try some of the other SOs, but for my new order this week I went back to Red Bird Blend.
Just because it happened to you doesn't make it interesting.

No one size fits all, and there's more than one way to pull a shot.
I don't own an 18g VST basket, so that's one difference right there. I have nine "double" baskets; two are 15g VSTs, the other seven are ridgeless (Gaggia?) baskets. My doses weigh between 15.5-16.0g. I don't generally time my shots, as I stop on blonding, but they take approximately 22-35 seconds from the time I switch on the pump.

ah that's right. there sure are a lot of variables in pulling a shot. I remember reading that espresso should essentially taste like it smells and these are some of the best smelling beans i've ever smelled.
Well I just ordered my usual pound of Red Bird but also getting a pound of their Brazil Sweet Blue. So I should get it by Friday, that's about the time it takes to get here in NC from Montana. I've got the VST 18g basket and use it in my QM Andreja and get a good double at about 25 sec. Looking forward to the Sweet Blue though
