I love coffee... a little too much. After a 6 year caffeine hiatus, I've been drinking 1-2 cups a day. Apparently, when you drink 6 cups of coffee, 12 mountain dews, and a couple of red bulls in one day, you get heart palpitations. And the doctor tells you that you have to cut out all caffeine. It's under control now. :)
I have one double from a Moka pot in the morning right now. But I have a PL41 on the way. Looking for an awesome decaf espresso blend that really cuts through the milk and has a strong chocolate and tobacco flavor. Any suggestions?

This, of course, presumes you like Black Cat to begin with . . . it's certainly popular, but not everyone is a fan -- especially of their decaf.
Obviously this is a personal choice (you have your taste buds in your mouth, not mine; and vice-versa), but presented in the FWIW Dept., my three favorite decafs are (in alphabetical order):

Anyone else have input on this? I've been drinking a lot of the Paradise Decaf Espresso blend. It's really really good, but doesn't have as much of the tobacco flavors I like. Their Havana is awesome, and if it wasn't for the heart arrhythmias, I'd be drinking the Havana all the time.
I also like the 5lb pricing that Paradise has. $50 or so for 5lbs is a great price. It doesn't appear that you can get Black Cat Decaf for anywhere near that price.

Hi Signal15,
First, I am also always in search of great decaf! Two recommendations, both made from forum members here: Jason recommended, in this thread and elsewhere, Redbird decaf and it really is great. It's subtle, but great.
drGary recommended Counter Culture's decaf Rustico - strong chocolate flavors and I love it. A bit more expensive than Redbird.

Also, try Klatch's decaf house blend (www.klatchroasting.com). I prefer the FTO version, but one of the more experienced regulars here prefers the non-FTO version.

Any comments on Compass Coffee Roasting's Decaf Swiss Water Process Blend?
I love their Handlebar (caffeinated) espresso blend and want to order some decaff too. Mainly just trying to avoid extra shipping charges getting from two different roasters- BUT part of their description of their decaf includes "citrus" which I usually don't think I'd care for in a decaff. I would prefer the chocolate and tobacco described by Signal15...

Anyone living in or near Portland Ore. NEEDS to try Spella's decaf Brazilian if you're looking for a milk-friendly decaf (or for any other reason for that matter). This is amazing coffee, but only available locally at Andrea Spella's wonderful cafe or a shop or two in town - no Web order. His other non-decaf coffees are equally fine.
