Coffee prices... It all depends. I don't think anyone is out there trying to dupe someone, some coffee is worth the 15-20 dollar price per 12 oz, some isn't. Some are priced high because the roaster has a large space in an expensive city (i.e. SF) and other because they paid top dollar for a really good lot of coffee.
I certainly like to try some of the lesser known roasters from middle of no-where places because they have good coffee at reasonable prices (i.e. Northbound Coffee Roasters, Redbird etc) but sometimes you just get what you paid for. Even some of the more expensive coffees are fairly inexpensive compared to other drinks.
One thing, who is only getting 10 shots from a 12 oz bag? Do you mean 10 drinkable shots or 10 shots total? That's like 35 grams of coffee per shot. I dose at about 16-19 grams and get somewhere in the ranges of 15-18 shots per bag. If you are referring to only 10 drinkable shots, just use some of the sink shots for milk drinks a lot harder to tell the difference of a 20s shot and a 25 s shot with some milk.

I did not know that Len. That is good to know and more roasters should be offering a 2lb shipping deal then. Like a sample pack with 3-4 small bags of their blends.

I've done that a few years ago using mainly lesser known roasters, one of the favs I found was a place called Shenandoah Joe in VA. They have a decent amount of SO's and espresso blends, sell by the pound and reasonable prices. even though I mainly roast my own now I'll still order a bag or 2 from them from time to time. People, perk up for a hot.
Lens Espresso Blends is worth your time and money. I havent had his coffee in a while, I think ill be ordering some soon, but I remember how delicious the blends were wayy back when you had a bunch of us try them out for you.
If you're looking for two blends for a weekly/.bi-weekly order, consider Lens #5 and FTO Blends. Those are the coffees he sells.. thats it. Two blends which are easy to dial in, will change their profile based on dose and temperature(very clearly, so its fun to experiment with these), and best of all, both of these coffees are just plain GOOD. Its beena little while, so my notes on what they actually taste like are probably slightly out of date, but, regardless.
If you haven't yet, give Lens Blends a try. I would bet good money you will enjoy it. (of course, give it a fair shot.. Freshly cleaned equipment and a couple days old coffee)

Paradise Roasters is $3.49 shipping no matter how much you buy. I would never buy just 1 bag at a time. If you said it, I missed it - what is your equipment?
Yeah...it's been that way for a while. I need to get it fixed but am just too lazy/busy/old/stupid to figure out how. I too had some difficulties from the start. Unfortunately, I also wasted beans in trying to get everything smoothly. Well right now, I have already adjusted using my machine and the beans, so it's okay now. I hope your issue regarding espresso blends has been resolved.
