I like Sweet Maria's espresso blends. I think their Liquid Amber comes pretty close to Malabar Gold. I often am tempted to buy their Espresso workshop blends and generally have enjoyed them. I think they're fun. I have some El Competidor in my stash currently in fact. I bought 5 pounds, have roasted 2 and am just waiting for a sunny day her in Indiana to roast a couple more pounds.

I have been experimenting with roasting my own beans for espresso, then blending them post-roast. So far, my success has been pretty random.
I bought five pounds each of Sweet Maria's Liquid Amber and New Classic Espresso last year. I roast them right up to second crack, and they consistently produce very nice results.

I just finished a very nice home roast batch of their Sundae Java Sundae workshop blend that I've had knocking around for a while. I think I have Monkey and Donkey (decaf) to use up as well. I found the last New Classic I roasted a little dull - but I tend to go for lighter roasted brighter blends anyway.

I really like SM green blends. Right now I have workshop blends #23 and #24, having bought 5 pounds of each. The Liquid Amber and Monkey Blend and New Classic Espresso Blend were also great.
You can't go wrong with their blends. I also roast them right up to 2C.

I also am loving the SM 23 he roasted. I am really enjoying my cappa this morning with it. Makes me want to get a roaster... Don't tell Germantownrob, he will just say told you so.

I think it is still mellowing but I am sadly almost out of beans. Tell Lee I am 13 rows into my scarf. And your fire pit outside is a great spot to set up the roaster even in the rain being under shelter and all.
