Subject: Espresso accessories and supplies for new setup?

So my first home espresso machine and grinder should be arriving in a week or two.  I've had the luxury of access to nice equipment at our workplace (they supply us with Mazzer Super Jolly grinders and Unic Diva/Rhumba machines, but always filled with dark roast Illy beans, which are OK, but I prefer lighter roasts).  And we have some great local coffeehouses who do wonderful espresso, even offering different blends 'on tap'.

Since we wanted to experiment with different roasts (possibly even doing our own), can get particular about our food and drink (and hence, coffee), and like the geek-factor, we decided to go somewhat high-end for our first setup and ordered a Brewtus and a Mazzer Mini Electric.

While we wait, what sort of equipment and supplies should we gather so when it gets here we can hit the ground running?

Since the Brewtus has temperature control, we'd like to put a variety of blends through their paces.  We'll get some local roasts, for sure, but are there some good standard blend/roasts we can order now to have on hand to try out how the temperature variation available on the Brewtus affects the coffee?

Recommended cleaning supplies?

I think you should get a naked portafilter to use with brewtus. We could always use another coffee freak--i mean, coffee geek--posting insane pictures of her latest bottomless brew.

Congratulations on your purchases.

Of course.  :-)

Since I have access to a friendly local machinist who can cut one for me (too bad it won't involve using the plasma cutter, that's always fun) -- any pointers on where to get the least expensive portafilter that will fit the Brewtus?

Get a good tamper.  A knockbox is handy.  Can't forget the milk jug-at least 20 oz and a thermometer.  For cleaning, get some Cafiza and a nice nylon brush.  Also some clean dish cloths.  I didn't mention any names but the Cafiza 'cause I don't know what it is besides espresso machine cleaner.  Also Jo-glo might work good but I haven't used it though.  The other things, just look at a supplier and find what you like for those items.  I recommend EPNW, Chriscoffee, and 1st-line.

why would you want a cheap one? You wouldn't want an ugly thing sticking out of Brewtus. I would get one of those sweet rubber handled 15 degree LM portafilters, if they can be modded to fit your machine. EPNW and Chriscoffee both sell PF handles at pretty decent prices.
