Just received mine. Lovely to hold. Quite a unique glass and experience. Very well insulated and a little strange not feeling the warm glass. $12 for pair at Amazon. Picture shows a concave sides, but mine came nicely roundish. What with added crema from bottomless pf, some high-crema blends (full shots) are barely contained in my Illy nudes (and other Illys). At 3 oz, these are just right. Martin
I saw these at the SCAA trade show - I'd love to get some of the larger ones for frozen drinks at the cafe. Come to think of it - the capp size and espresso size ones would look great too if it weren't for the fact that I already get mine custom made. Interestingly, my newly minted 'distributor for canada' Intelligentsia business card opens some doors - the reps at the Bodum booth are sending me distributor pricing and catalogue due to the association already set up with Chicago. I'll be able to sell any of their product line (including the new espresso machine which looked very cool - didn't play with it however) through the cafe. Cool! Apparently, Danesco - the previously exclusive Canadian importer - limited the line to french presses which is how the word bodum has come to mean french press in Canada.

With just limited use, I'm still a fan of these cups for espresso and I'm likely to order some for cappas. However, I'd be curious to get other users' impressions as to whether the tactile "novelty" is a distraction for people who aren't used to them. We are all familiar with the alterations in experience due to conventional variations in cup weight and sensation. But these are more of a departure than even going from ceramic or porcelain to hollow-walled stainless. If I were considering them for commercial use, I'd begin with just a few and try some informal focus groups for a while to see how customers respond. Martin
It is great for home use, but not commercially, I believe. It is beautifully design and great for the “Guinness Effect" watch. It is just too fragile to endure the heavy usage in a coffee shop. A thicker version of it will be perfect...
I just got the Bodum Pavina Double Old Fashioned glass which hold 7 oz. and is for me, a great size for pulling two doubles or triples in the morning with a bottomless portafilter. They are a great size and keep the espresso hotter, for longer due to the double wall construction. The design is more rounded and can be seen here
I received my pair about a week ago. They aren't as fragile as I imagined, they're not heavy, but not super light, either. They provide just about the best insulation I've gotten out of an espresso cup.
these bodum pavina glasses (as opposed to the assam glasses picture above) are aesthetically and functionally extraordinary. they're durable, yet so light it's hard to believe they're glass.
the shot glasses are 3.5 oz. -- almost perfect for double shots. the tumblers (next size up) are excellent for milk-based drinks. your hands stay cool and the drink stays hot. also, there's nothing as visually cool as seeing a pure shot of crema floating on air!
