One of the cigar boards I follow has a few events like this every year, with smaller ones throughout the year.  It so happens that one takes place near LA and one takes place in Southern Illinois.  Tons of people from all over attend...it's really cool.  They fly in and stay for a few days, smoke cigars and party.
I'm a newbie and a bit of a lurker, but count me in!!!  Especially Chicago...what a great location!!! (And my original hometown!!!)

I say we have it in Oklahoma City. It's in the exact center of the continental United States.

I say Charlotte, the birthplace of NASCAR!  LOL
We've got the roaster of the year nearby...

I would definitely think about Chi-town. I'd drink espresso, get a sandwich at Mr. Beef, drink espresso, drop acid and go to the men's bathroom at the house of blues, drink espresso; and so on...

LOL!! Actually, Charlotte is not a bad suggestion. It is s pretty cool town despite the red-neck/NASCAR thing!

Now that IS a dumb idea! Who wants to ever go to Oklahoma City? just kidding..."sort of". Anyway, the geographical center is of little import if there isn't a cool place at the, er...center of it. Also, the flights (prices and schedules) are not all that great for the vast part of the USA, let alone anyone else who may want to come form abroad.

Wait a minute! Am I really supposing that this will come off? Nah...but it would be fun.

hey,

i'm in for a convention. and i think chicago is the place. its a big cheap airhub...so most people that want to go probably could work it out. the main thing would be finding cheap places to stay. so if someone has any ideas on that. also scaa is in Carolina next year so...thats a consideration. although...seatle would be another nice place to have the convention...because of so many places to go see...all the big shops and what not...and also the home of a lot of equipment manufacturers...and the espresso mecha...to a degree.

just some thoughts
homeless

oh and if it was in carolina around the scaa then at least if the turnout was small people would still have something to do...alright

and this is not a bad idea at all. from a roastary perspective growing the at home espresso/coffee community means more bean sales...

ok, discuss...

Ok.  It's in Chicago.  I'll pay for all expenses.   Hahahahahahahaha.

The next step... a CG Poll.  From there we will see.  I envision a few stores such as WholeLatteeLove, 1st in Line, Chris' Coffee, Visions Espresso, etc, etc,   having their wares at a small convention site and a amateur competition with a professional judge.  If in Chicago, then Metropolis and (the other one... sorry) would hopefully get involved.   It would be fun anyway to play with new machines, compete if one chose to, have some training sessions and a few mixers.

Let's see how the poll goes.

And if anyone wants to give me a treat,
Ah!, just give me some coffee!
