Yesterday, I went down to Steveston Coffee Co. upon arrival back from Cape Beale (that takes 8 hours + the time it takes to get 2 blown tires fixed when you're out of cell phone service range, 20km out of the nearest auto repair shop (Kal Tire actually), your radio has short-circuited, and it was the spare that blew! Anywho, I tried a shot from them. I was handed a paper cup with 4oz of liquid in it which was very similar to the one I got from a "Coffee & Slushie" place at the Port Alberni Quay on the way home. It was a dark roast, similar to *$. I decided that, since my iRoast hasn't arrived, I ought to try some of their Lighthouse Blend. I doubt it's the one that is famous as one of the top blends, since Steveston Coffee roasts in house. It was said to have a "medium roast" Medium body and some mention of acidity and bold and good and blah blah blah. It was Organic, which is usually a good sign. They used good cupping terms aside from the above, so I went for it. I bought a pound for CAN$14 with tax included. I brought it home and made the shot below. It was a darker roast than Hines or Black Cat. I'd call it a Full City+ - Vienna, going by appearance. It tasted like a nuttier, lighter-bodied Hines. I like it. It will surely be my blend to fall back upon when I run out of greens now!
P.S. I'm too lazy and tired from Tylenol I've been taking since I got my braces put on today. Ouch... I had somwhere between 4 and 6 doubles today to numb to pain. I also made 2 other sink shots... You do that math... I went through a lot of coffee. I also got a Frappuccino... What if caffeine really is bad for you? Maybe I should've made some overextracted Press Pot brew if I wanted caffeine... then savour the flavour of a double... BED TIME (I'm ready to pass out)!
Let me guess, an Elektra A3 (rotary pump, plumbed in and that water heater sized 6L boiler). Maybe the mythical dual boiler PID controlled machine from Chris?
