We had no flooding and no house damage we were lucky. As for things getting back to normal……well it seems that Baton Rouge and where I live (10 miles out of BR) have DOUBLED in population within a few days. Everywhere you go there are just more people EVERWHERE. Many are buying houses over the phone never seeing the property and there are no apartments left and forget hotel rooms. The fact of the matter is that many are going to take the insurance check and are no going back. We welcome them in our area and are going to try to help as many people as we can. Through our church(which was bursting full Sun.) we are going to try to put up a rescue or rebuilder person or someone who needs a place to stay for a while as we are about 60 miles from NO. We don’t have a spare room and it won’t be convenient or easy for us but I don’t care,,,, this is not the time to stand on the fence…this is a problem of Garganchious Magnitude. I challenge everyone to do something even if you give a few bucks; we really need help from everyone in this country for this one.
Glad to hear you made it through OK. Ohio is a few miles north of you and she still did some damage way up here. Scattered power outages, downed trees and 4 inches of rain in a day, cant imagine what it was like down there.
Chin up and push on, help the living and pray for the dead.
