I was sort of out of it when I accidentally put the whipped cream (from a can, extra-heavy/creamy kind) in the bottom of the latte cup FIRST... heh. So I went with it and made a shot on top of the whipped cream. Anyways, as the shot came out it did something neat: it sort of mixed into the whipped cream as it came out. The resulting cup was a somewhat unevenly mixed heavenly delight of creamy espresso.

I really can't recommend it enough. It took almost no work and is delicious.

I don't suppose what I'm doing has a name?

Danielle, did you try it?

I love the way the whipped cream sort of absorbs the espresso!

I did! I actually made it for my husband this morning -- he is just getting into coffee and only likes it with a bunch of milk and syrup. I made his a double shot this am with the whip and no syrup and he said it was the "Best thing that he has ever tasted." I tried his and it was really good -- too sweet for every day for me but it'll be great when I am craving something sweet.
Thanks for sharing your "mistake"

How much whipped cream did you have in the cup?

Peter,

You just have to be sure your whipped cream covers the bottom of the cup or it doesn't absorb right. You can do it in a doubleshot glass.

Sounds very similar to what I've read about Vietnamese coffee... Though those used sweetened condensed milk. It does sound good though.

Sounds very interesting .. i would try it in a second but ran out of my favorite espresso blend ... I do have some Costa rican and Monsooned malabar around .. wonder how that would work ?

Good Day ...

Decided to try this out this morning (too lazy to steam some milk for a cappa)...very tasty indeed.  Put a nice dollap in the bottom of my cappa cup, pulled the shot right over the top, blends very nicely with no mixing needed.  Just the right amount of sweetness to slightly temper the boldness of the shot (Ambrosia, BTW, very nice).  So good I had another half an hour later.  I think I'll try this out as an after dinner option next time I have guests.
