Just received my M4 doserless for Christmas. I am struggling with a few items. Am looking for help!!!
First probelm is getting the worm drive adjusted to the type of grind. My first 2 Tbls of beans ground like powder and I was trying to adjust the grind for drip coffee. In the process of grinding the machine quit. I had to take the hopper off and turn the unit upside down to get the beans out of the hopper and then it turned it back on again. If you need to continually run the grinder, won't there be an excessive amount of wasted ground coffee in the transition from drip coffee to espresso? Can you grind until empty and then adjust the the worm drive and refill with beans and then grind for the espresso?
2nd problem, is that there seems to be a lot of ground coffee left in the shoot. I had to lift the grinder forward and give it a knock or two and quite a bit of ground coffee came out. What is recommended method to get all the ground coffee to expel. Since I only grind 2T at a time I really need all the grounds to come out into my container.
My goal with this grinder is to be able to grind only the amount I will need for my pour-over which is 2 T at a time.
Thanks for any suggestions in helping get the most out of my new grinder.

I don't have a Macap but some things are more-or-less universal with these prosumer grinders. Just put the amount of beans in that you want to grind. Don't fill up the hopper with beans that you won't be using in that session.
If you put in just as much as you need to grind then it's no problem to grind the beans for one method, then adjust and grind for another.

Some people pick it up and give it a knock or pick it up and let it fall a half-inch to knock the grinds out but I'd say more people just keep a little brush handy to clear the chute. You can find all sorts of brushes at hobby stores or probably variety stores like Wal-Mart.

I have visited Home-Barista web site but I am not very skilled in finding only Macap M4 doserless information. I was searching page by page and it was just too time consuming searching the way I was searching. I am sure there is a more practical way of zoning in on the searches but I have not yet mastered it!
It am really amazed at the quantity of grounds that do not expel from the shoot. When you are only grinding enough for 1-2 cups (2-4T) its a pretty good % of the total grounds stuck in the shoot!
The angle of the chute. Look up into the chute with a flashlight (UK: torch). You will see a bed of grounds along the bottom of the chute, ready to become an avalanche with just a little coaxing. I researched having the inside of my chute teflon coated, but it was just too expensive ($300 US set up charges, plus cost of actually coating the surface). I am looking for another way to make that thing more slippery, but I'm sure it will start with a good polishing.

With my M4, I use one of those little measurement cups for cough syrup for scooping the coffee from an airtight jar into the grinder hopper, then I use the handle from that cup to clear the pathway between the doser and the grinder, run the grinder for another second and clear the path again. This may seem a little over the top, but a significant amount of coffee from a previous grind ends up in the next batch. Why go to all the trouble of grinding fresh coffee, when as much as 20% of what ends up in your portafilter basket has been getting stale for hours during the day or overnight?
