I should have my own civet cat in a few days. A guy my girl friend used to work with has a connection in the philippines and the cat has been shipped. I am not sure about all of the legalities (and I am not sure I want to know) but the animal should be here soon. We are also having 50lbs of coffee berries sent with the cat.

I am not an experienced roaster ( I may have to upgrade my equiptment) but I can't wait to be able to brew up my own cat shit coffee at will. There are several of us involved in the project, but if all goes well we may import a few more cats and sell the coffee here. I will keep you updated on our progress.

Thats rich.  You should get a slew of them Jacu birds also, then you'd be able to corner the poop bean market.

Don't let any of the perineal excretions go to waste either! That's big business in the perfume industry.

They should make a great dessert topping ..  So just like that, "This guy I know" will ship a non-indigenous, wild species into the country...?  An animal which can carry some pretty serious diseases iirc...?  Watch for the blacked-out Suburban to pull up at you door if the animal is addressed to you.

I have to assume that it takes some pretty serious paperwork to import an animal like that, and I also assume that the permit and license to do so is not inexpensive either...  Not to mention the permit to keep it..

If you want, I'll eat some coffee beans, and for a small processing fee, I'll send them off to you...

OW-OW-OW-OW-OW!  I think you broke my punner!

I had pretty much the same reaction... You are having someone send you a what!?!  This sounds like a remarkably funny Animal Control Officer's story in the making.  Here's betting that the local county employees are enjoying 'homegrown' Kopi Luwak soon...

I think we have a pretty good handle on the disease aspect and how to manage the cat. One of our group has a lot of experience with exotic animals. He already has a ring tailed Lemur and some kind of small monkey. Also snother guy's wife is a vet. However she doesn't know about the cat yet because she made it clear that she would never drink anything that came out of an animal's posterior.

After we get the roast perfected he wants to brew her up a cup and surprise her. But if we had to, we could get her to help with the cat. Anyway, the cat should arrive in a couple of days.

What is the official job title of the person picking thru the poop and removing the beans.....?

It is separated before brewing.....isn't it???????????
