I just had by far the best cup of espresso I've ever tasted. Has anyone bought beans from this Co or heard any scuttlebutt?  Apparently he only ships beans that he roasts  the same day. He has no retail outlet and  besides the mail, the only place to buy the beans is at the Berkeley farmers market and the San Francisco Ferry building on Saturdays.

Good stuff... it is the last coffee I ordered before I began roasting my own....
He is definitely small business so you get quality with your purchase from him...
I am contemplating going to the farmers market one of these days so I can meet this guy....

I recommend him as a Bay Area outlet.... He only roasts on Mondays I believe other than what he takes to the Ferry Building and the Farmers market

I went to the Ferry Building one Saturday.  I was too late to taste anything since he had closed.  He had run out of the Yemen I went to buy too :(.  But, he did give me some decaf that was a week or so old.  He said he couldn't sell it.

The website says he sells:
Tuesdays 2pm-7pm Berkeley Farmers' market
Saturdays 10am-3pm Berkeley Farmers' market
Saturdays 8am-2pm San Francisco Ferry Plaza Market

I think the Tuesday thing is new.  I think you can also pick up beans on roasting day (Monday I think) at his place in Oakland.  Call first...

Blue Bottle is great!  I have been searching for a good local (Oakland) roaster for some time now, and I've finally hit pay dirt.  My advice is to get there early because they typically run out of beans pretty fast.  I've tried the Roman Espresso and Espresso Temescal blends, both of which are wonderful.  The Yemen is also excellent.

Blue Bottle gets a lot of play in the Bay Area.... I would not be surprised if he didn't grow his business a lot over the next 10 years.... Word of Mouth is everything..... I bought a FR8+ so I am roasting my own, but when I am not. .... Blue Bottle and Stumptown are on my short list of quick calls.... Mr. Espresso was very good also

Ordered his Roman Espresso a week ago Monday (roasting day). Got them in Atlanta on Wednesday. That's fresher than the local roaster (who doesn't put the roasting date on his beans). At $15 a lb incl shipping it was worth it. This week I ordered two lbs.
