Hi all,

just found out this aluminium tamper that would well fit my design requirements but I never saw it mentionned anywhere.

It's supposedly from gaggia (or it might just fit a gaggia I am not sure).

anyone used it? thanks

Can't say I've seen it.  Is it heavy?  It looks like the tamping surface is rounded at the bottom.  That would result in pretty horrible tamps if you ask me, as you'd be getting very little pressure on the outside ring of the puck.

Clark, you must have read in my mind, those are the questions I had in mind.

I found another one, that is in the same price range (10€), more squarish design (i.e. likely to better tamp). see below.

as for the weight I remember having seen posts mentioning that some aluminium tampers are quite adequate, so I do not think this is the issue.

PS: edited this post to add that those tamper seem to come from a german manufacturer www.concept-art.de

I own a 58mm wooden handle tamper from concept art. it's an ok tamper, but nothing special. but it's cheap (about 10-15 Euro). It's not very heavy and the handle is too long, but so far i havent seen anything better around here.
I would try to check out if it fits your basket before you buy. mine fits the valentia baskets, but is too big for the ones from marzocco.
