I hear distilled water is bad for coffee.  It lacks certain minerals that add a lot to the coffee, so I've heard.

As stated above, distilled water lacks good flavor.  Jim Schulman has a water faq listed in this thread:

I think I'm right in stating the Cliff Notes version is to use Arrowhead Spring water.  (I do.)  (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong...)

NOTE: I just glanced at the "insanely long water FAQ" & no mention of Arrowhead Spring water.

"IF YOU DON'T EVER WANT TO MESS WITH THIS STUFF
Use Volvic or Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine water in your home
espresso machine. They have formulations that won't scale, but which
still taste OK for coffee. On the other hand, if you want to take some
pains and save some money, read on.

Anyone know the pros & cons of RO water?

I've been using the water from our reverse osmosis system, which has softened water going in.

I' had my Tea almost a year and she's performing great.  Should I be descaling soon?  The water test strips from Chris' tested as very soft.

I'll read Jim's stuff when I get home from work today.

Thanks,

Hamm
