That really appears to be like a smart concept. I'm going to try it that way. Thanks for major me further down the direction of gourmet coffee perdition.

More on OPs topic... I haven't had espresso with condensed milk  - but I went to a Thai place, that served Vietnamese coffee.

It was about an inch of condensed milk in a cup, they had little brewers (Don't know the name, I'm sorry- maybe someone here does) on top of the cup that was brewing a very dark, strong looking coffee into it.

Then, they mixed it up, and poured over ice.

Absolutely amazing. AMAZING. <3

On the box it says single cup coffee filter, so I'd say Vietnamese single cup coffee filter. {;-)

Here's a pic of mine from October 13, 2003. :O

That makes sense.  I got into the condensed milk heathen like behaviour after my brother came across it in Asia.  I like the whipped cream ideas being posted here.  Ok so for my next experiment will try stirring my coffee with a snickers bar

Here in Houston you can go to any Vietnamese restaurant and ask for a Cafe Sua Da (or Vietnamese coffee) and get one of those drinks.

I've made it myself and it's pretty awesome.  I've never tried it with espresso instead of the Cafe Du Monde coffee.  But that's a neat idea!

The filter is called a Phin.  I'll have condensed milk w/ my vietnames coffee, but it wont go near my espresso/capps.
Has anyone tried Truong Nyguyen coffee instead of using Cafe Du Monde for their Vietnamese coffee? What did you think?

never tried it, but I had a firend named Truong Nguyen when I was in undergrad.  Of course, that's like saying I had a friend named Chris Smith, which I did, but then again, so did everyone else...or my favorite...Steve Miller.  Ah, but I digress.  I've a phin as well and totally agree...condensed milk for a cafe sua da, but never for my espresso...and I've only used Cafe Du Monde for mine.

another aside...while it's true you can go to any vietnamese restaurant in Houston (or LA for that matter) and order a cafe sua da, if you try that in Corpus Christi at Hu Dat (supposedly vietnamese food), the waiter will look at you like you have two heads.

Craig...please tell me you don't still have the plastic box :)
