I got to hang out with Baratza and Crossland and they are all very cool.  And Baratza really are the nicest people you ever want to meet.  I feel like I spend another day to "really see" all the stuff I was interested in.  I was impressed with Uvu even though I did not plan to stop there. (to go lids on paper cup are not important to me as a home user)  The cute show room girl suckered me in with an engraved mint case and the plastic "to go" lid is really very cool.  I used it later in the day and it does snap on easily unlike most lids of that type and stayed on really well.

All the machines were lovely.  I saw some neat ones and one really old looking one. The espro people are super nice and my tamper works great it doesn't make a click like everyone says.   I got my large espro pitcher I wanted but rattleware was not selling and I so needed another shot glass I have broken 2 in a week. I did get a hot tattoo from them on my cleavage.

I got to meet Frcn but I missed Joel.  I stopped by the behmor booth and grounds for health but I could not access the web to get the guys names and I did not want to run around yelling "are you a coffeegeek?"

The crazy roasting machines were most impressive to me.  I met the owners for the wandering goat coffee shop I like in Eugene, saw the owner of noble's coffee again.  I am a big fan of his also.  I got to met Gail and Kat from seattlecoffeegear.  They were just walking around and I had to ask for Gail's autograph as a joke.  They were very nice.  I missed seeing Stefano and his wife also.

I got some neat swag and had all kinds of coffee offered to me but I was too hot to drink hot coffee. I had a lot of tasty frozen and cold stuff. The ginger lemon aid was killer, and I sadly can't remember that booth name.

The Italian espresso cup vendor Ancap there made me want to buy all their stuff.  It was beautiful and super heavy but looked delicate and light. I am sure when I edit the photos I will remember more stuff.

The most impressive ones are the ones that are larger than my house.

Oh and I met Orphan espresso owners at the party at Clive's.  Great folks!  I also talked to a lot of interesting people and had a really nice time. Got me a hot date lined up on a coffee farm if I ever go to HI.

This was my ninth show(!)and I have worked in the Hottop Booth at about five or six (or seven?) of them. Walking the floor I have met a lot of great folks. The ones that have been the most interesting are those who are personally excited to share their own efforts and items- the folks like Bill Crossland, Kyle and Kyra of Baratza, ALL the folks at Espro (who make me want to move to Canada), Joe Behm, and so many more. Making a living at this sort of thing is great, but these stand out sort of folks have a real passion for what they are doing, and that energy and excitement is contagious and alluring in a magnetic way. And working a booth is really great as well. Besides being able to say hello9 to fans of my own work on my website, being able to share my limited knowledge of roasting and more complete knowledge of the Hottop if quite fulfilling. I am a credentialed teacher, and strive to find opportunities to share what I know with folks who want to learn. I really do thrive on the ignorance of others- I love filling those voids and having folks appreciate it. I think it is reflected in my website, and it's far more than what I do - it really is who I am. So I am already looking forward to Boston..  Too soon? Not at all!

So thank you very much to all the folks who dropped by just to say hi, or to talk, or share..

If you haven't check it out yet, my review is up in Chapter 133 on my website. Not as complete as I would like since I do spend most of my time in the booth, but I did run across some interesting things on the floor.

I was impressed with the color change stirrers as well.  I saw the Joulies and thought they were interesting.  But I don't have a need for holding heat that long.  My travel cups do more than fine for as long as it takes me to drink it.  I love the espro people too.  I spent a long time in their booth.

I wish I could have been there sunday to see if I could score some d'ancap cups as they packed up.  Oh well.  Maybe one day.  Coffeegeek should design a logo have them put it on a cup and sell it off his site.  I would buy a couple.  I would rather my cup say coffeegeek than a coffee shop name that I don't hang out in or a machine I don't own.  NS doesn't seem to sell cups.
