Subject: How many different types of coffee capsules do you use?

Hi all,

I am a student studying at Northumbria University - England. I'm hoping you can help me with some research I need for a project in product design. I am currently designing a complementary product to the coffee capsules machines, such as Nespresso. For all of the users of these machines I'm wondering how many different types of capsules you continually buy / store (i.e. you favourite flavours).

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing back from you.

It seems that school has started and we have had a lot of these type posts.
You are looking in the wrong marketplace if you seek information on capsule machines.

We like FRESH coffee, not stale, preground, low quality coffee found in capsules. Ground coffee goes stale in about 15 minutes from the time it was ground, regardless of how it is packaged. The example I like to use is that of an apple.

If you cut an apple in half, the flesh is nice and white. After a short time (about 15 minutes) you start to get a brown oxidized surface on the fruit. This oxidized layer is due to interaction of the O2 in the air and the fruit. This same process takes place on coffee but as coffee is brown to start with, you do not see it. Now cut your apple into 200 small pieces, you see that the surface area is much larger so the amount of oxidation is much higher due to high surface area, this oxidized food (coffee is a food product) has a nasty taste and the more oxidation, the more nasty taste you get.

Capsule machines are easy to use and the result is better than a pot of coffee sitting on a burner for hours (the same process happens with brewed coffee AND the additional heat burns what is left in the pot to boot) but the over all quality of capsule machines is only middling at best.

You've already got a failing grade for your research. It wouldn't have taken more than a few minutes of examining posts here to realize that we are not your target customers, as, unless everytody here is lying through their teeth, capsules, pods, and pre-packaged grouind coffee in any guise are not what we do here.

Ron, sorry, my mistake, I was trying to be helpful but if the address is fake, and it is, there is nothing important to see here anyway, good catch, I'm just sorry I didn't look first before answering.

no worries.  It looks legit.  Like you, having seen a few school projects lately, I first took it on face value, but then I thought...I wonder if it's the same guy on each of these?  Well, it's not.  One of the other ones has a real email address, and the other one (the one with the survey monkey, doesn't have a public email address at all (I thought that was a requirement to join?).  This one still might be legitimate...maybe he just put that because he didn't want to receive any email?  I'm curious to see if he posts back here explaining himself.

As you're saying, his public email address is fake. However, his signup (private) email address is real. It has to be or you couldn't sign up.

As a Moderator I/we mods see the private address on the posts, where as the rest of the CG members do not.

When a CG member checks his settings within the forums & enables or even disables this below, Moderators still 'see' the private email address:

"Show instant messaging, email and web buttons?
Selecting yes will post buttons for any of these items you have entered on your profile page. Buttons will not be displayed for items left blank. Only your 'public' email address will be used."

cool!  Thanks Craig.

To answer the post...like others said, there are probably few people on this site who use those machines.  One of my close friends has the Nespresso, and they seem to have 5 or more capsule choices when I'm at their house.  I know one of them (the husband) goes back and forth between two, and I've chosen one of those same ones myself every time.  The wife uses the other ones (I think).

I don't use any capsules, though I once tried making my own Nespresso Pro pods to use in the work pod machine, but since they only hold about 6 grams of coffee the result wasn't great.  I stick to real espresso.  The work pod machine broke, but I've still got my coffee setup going strong.
