I dug back in the archives and this is the first post of mine (from 2009) I can find about another member who goes way back to 2003.

The article also talks of roasters in San Diego, hard to believe that Caffe Calabria roasted a cell phone and a lizard and only caught it in the de-stoner pan after the roast, but then again I've seen our radio product at work returned with snakes, frogs, and mice inside the electronics so anything's possible.
You've got to be roasting a lot of beans to miss that, though. Don't try that at home.
