Posted Sat Dec 1, 2012, 1:58pm Subject: Looking for a table of Espresso "Recipes"
Hi,
I think this may be the correct forum for this post (if not let me know).
Anyway, I remember seeing a table on some web site (I thought that I Bookmarked it but I didn't) that gave directions (ratios or recipes) for various espresso based drinks (Americano, longo, lattes, etc. etc.).
Does anyone have a clue where I could find it or one like it again? Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Dave
Don't forget to stop and smell the coffee...... er flowers!
Doppio (50 ml) + 200 ml hot milk (not necessarily topped with frothed milk) = Caffè latte
Here are some things Italians do with espresso:
Caffè corretto: espresso "rectified" with a shot of Grappa or brandy
Granita di caffè: stirred, frozen espresso
Caffè freddo: cold, sweetened espresso stretched with water
Caffè macchiato freddo: espresso with just a draft of cold milk
Maroccino: a tablespoon of molten chocolate is dispersed on the inside of a glass, then espresso is added and topped with two to three tablespoons of frothed milk and sprinkled with cocoa
Bicerin: equal parts of espresso and hot chocolate topped with frothed milk (a variation from Turin)
Spanish espresso based coffee drinks are:
Romano: espresso with a slice of lemon
Café con hielo: espresso "on the rocks"
Some other strange recipes:
Coffee on the Beach: Mix a cold, sweetened doppio with cocoa. Add vanilla ice cream and pineapple juice, and stir until creamy.
Mint Mix: Blend some cream, espresso, peppermint ice cream and sugar.
Advocaat Dream: Top espresso with advocaat (or eggnog) and whipping cream.

Add this to the list, I had it for the first time Saturday.
Espresso con panna, which means "espresso with cream" in Italian, is a single or double shot of espresso topped with whipped cream. In the US it may also be called café Vienne and in the UK café Viennois.

I don't know of the link here on CG, but I would imagine that you could fine some great recipes on www.allrecipes.com
My wife and I go to that site all the time for recipes. It has a huge selection with review system that is excellent.

I guess I should mention that 7 g for a single and 14 g for a double shot are a rather unusual dose around here. Most people updose significantly like 18 g for a doppio. It all depends on your personal preference.
