Posted Fri Dec 21, 2012, 9:21pm Subject: It was a great espresso night at my house...
I'm usually a milk drink in the morning person. My espresso technique isn't great. I use my Gaggia Classic- not the priciest machine out there. I have no PID. I don't really surf temps. I roast my beans with a thrift shop popper. I don't measure my bean dosing. My tamping could use work....
So tonight I decided for a Americano before bed. I pulled two shots and they were absolutely beautiful. I used a home roasted Brazilian from 6 days ago.
I decided to taste one of them before I put them in a drink.... It was the smoothest espresso I have ever consumed. I ended up drinking both of them out of the shot glasses and they were great.
I wanted more.... but wasn't sure I could duplicate that amazing pull (that and the fact I was going to bed in less than an hour).
So, despite my questionable technique and lack of experience..... even I can pull some great espresso. I just wanted to share my espresso high with the rest of you here- especially the new folks.
Happy espresso drinking to all, and to all a good night!
