I have gotten some decent deals in the past. The machine that started me down the path of espresso madness was a Briel Vilamoura for $2.99 at Goodwill many years back. And it had most of the parts, including a separate milk frother/holder and the 'how-to use this machine' VHS. (VHS...hahahaha) A complete Cory Nicro for $6.99 from Value Village. And also a Silex vac pot (missing rod) for $2.99 from Value Village. My NS Mac Digit 1gr was $400 off of Kijiji this past summer. It needed some really heavy descaling and cleaning. (For example, I found a press-on nail inside when cleaning it out.) However, only the gaskets & o-rings needed changing. Macap MXA for $100 also off of Kijiji. And these ipa cups: They were $1.99 each set at Value Village. I have no idea what Lavazza set they are from, Google was not my friend here.

Nice finds Pearl, & Welcome to the Coffeegeek forums! {;-)
I've posted about two of my Thrift store finds before (in my CG profile a SB Barista for $9!,Gaggia Espresso for $6!, both perfect), but one month ago I got 6 Carlo Giannini espresso cups for $1.59 each (no saucers though! :( ) at my local Salvation Army store.
Also known as the Star Trek: Voyager espresso cups & I just recently saw then on a Voyager episode/scene in 10 Forward (the lounge and recreation facility located on Deck 10). I'll post a pic of them after I take a shot. In the meantime here's a Google pic.

Thanks, I have been a very long time lurker. Most times I can find answers on questions I have before asking, hence I don't post. But this topic is very close to my heart, I'm a thrift shopping addict. ^_^
It is great to see all the amazing deals that people can get. This thread proves that this hobby can be done inexpensively. ^o^

I snagged a fabulous deal at Goodwill today....a Breville YouBrew for a whopping $19.99! I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the shelf . It was pretty dirty and I thought for sure it wouldn't even power on but I plugged it in and it worked. It took a good couple of hours to clean everything but I got it polished up and it works great.

last week picked up a V2 Rancilio Silvia off local craigslist for $125. When i picked it up, found out it was currently setup with the coffee pod kit accessory. luckily he had the original grouphead/screen so its not setup again for espresso...cleaned the old kit up (he also had original bag, instructions, etc) and it looks good as new. Kits sell for $90+ new, so listed on ebay for about $60.
once it sells, i will have a great looking used Silvia for about $60! woohoo!
