totally agree! Most of mine are dark brown or beige, but I have a couple formerly nice white ones with coffee related art on them (that my wife gave me).

Mine are white but they are made from paper and I only use them one time, I am not sure they would hold up to being washed but I buy a lot of them at a time on a roll so I don't sweat it and toss them :^P

I tend to use one short half sized paper towel to wipe out the basket between pulls if I am pulling fast. If not I will rise and try and put on top of the machine to warm and dry. Other than that I try to use no paper toweling.
Biz stain fighter seems to have a lot of the same things in it. I saw it at safeway today but not washing soda.

Have a stack of what you would I think call "washcloths" from IKEA (although you have to brave the children and baby department to get them). White towelling. Sold in packs of ten. Nice combination of being absorbent and also gentle abrasion. Very cheap. Fresh one every day, then chucked in with the next load of white towels/cotton bedlinen at 95C. Come out like new.
We rarely use chlorine bleach here in laundry. Standard detergent should do the job on its own at over 60C, but if not an added scoop of Oxyclean will fix it.
