yeah, it's a quiz...but an easy one.  This photo is from an Italian restaurant in Houston.  As you can see from the photo of their bar, they are very proud of their Elektra.  sorry it's sideways...I didn't realize it until after I posted it.

The picture is too small for me to make out details.  I'm guessing that either the portafilters aren't in the groups (sitting out cold) or the steam wand is yukky with baked-on dry milk.

What place is it ?

Prego, in Rice Village.  answer is much more basic than that.  you're waaaaay overthinking it.

clue: think 4 Ms (yeah, assume there's a "barista" in house somewhere)

I should have a better (zoomed and cropped) photo up in a few minutes...

well, it's kind of blurry when I zoomed it up enough...sorry it didn't work out, but the answer was...

A GRINDER!

This picture shows a grinder on the counter. Perhaps it was being repaired. Or they switched to pods.

Was just at the same restaurant for brunch today. Still no grinder. I asked about it, but the guy I asked took advantage of a distraction to blow me off. Their menu says they use Illy Espresso. I did hear the machine in use while we were eating (it was behind me), and there was definitely no grinder in use there. But hey...they have a beautiful commercial Elektra! Lol!

I love seeing restaurant espresso machines as a focal point and not tucked away in the prep area.

Very nice!
