I think it has more robusta. I'll try brazil santos and see how. taste? rich, thick, more balance. my previous shots use to have significant berry taste. now it's sweeter, rounder. obviously.
Thanks, Steve. I have a few nice cups, but my miniscule "collection" is barely a pimple on the @ss of Mark Prince's extravaganza. He's got more cups than a Victoria's Secret showroom.
i tried illy today. dial the ground to meet 25 sec. however, i poured a 30 sec by catching the pour into 3 cups, 10 sec each. first one was very very good. thick body, flavourful. second one was ok. standard illy. third one was very watery. very bad taste like coming out from superauto.
the pour? nice at the center, a little bit wall channelling.
The plastic handle on my Gaggia has been cracked and broken for some time now, it was also the older style that just had two holes drilled in the bottom for spouts. So I ordered the updated design and a new handle for my old one from Whole Latte Love. Wich gives me the perfect reason to hack the old one into a bottomless portafilter.
I used a 2 3/8 " or 60mm hole saw from ACE. Drilling down threw the top and out the bottom worked very well. Came out a lot better than I thought. From there I cleaned up the sharp edge's with a dremel.
I was kinda worried about how strong thing would be with what little metal material was left but it seems real solid still. I should of done this a long time ago, if I need to seperate the shots the other portafilter is always right there.
I haven't heard of anyone selling, so I guess we FF!'ers have to bring out the tools to get one. Noll (twomartinis) has made one using a Dremel I think.
