Hello, I've searched through Google and these forums for a walk through on taking apart the doser on the Mazzer Mini. My apologies if I missed it somewhere. It seems the spring has come loose on the doser arm. This results in the arm not returning back into position after pulling it forward. I had the doser off of the grinder last weekend and tried several times to remove the two allen screws on the bottom of the doser. I was using a screw driver with a hex rachet bit, but I am going to pick up an L-shaped one soon. The ones I have don't fit the screws.
Either way, is there anyone out there that could give me some pointers of what to do once I get inside there? Any help or suggestions are welcome.
For the record, I have contacted WWL and they sent me a schematic and have been quite helpful over the phone. They actually called me back while I was typing this post! She offered to have me send it in for repair if I can't get the screws off, but I'd rather not go without my Mazzer for more than a couple of days if possible. Plus, I want to learn how to do this stuff myself.

I accidentally took apart the doser on my Rossi RR45, which probably is quite similar to your doser. There are a lot of cogs and springs and grease. Putting it back together was NOT easy. Try to somehow support the main shaft so that once you get the bottom of the doser chamber off nothing falls out of place. (That was my mistake.)

Hmmm.... That worries me. I was thinking about placing my digi cam nearby to make a "doser movie". The thought of stuff moving around without me seeing where it was to begin with is making me nervous. However, I am determined to become more hands-on, so I think I will still at least try to do it. I'll make a mental note to secure the top half while removing the bottom half.

Yeah, you might want to wait until you are well-caffeinated and have a few hours to kill. Although if you get it apart without disturbing all the cogs and springs and levers, it is probably an easy job.

On the bottom of the doser there is a plate with 2 allen flat head screws, I think they are 5mm, remove these two screws & you can examine the spring. (nothing will fall out unless it is broken)
There are several snap rings that hold things in place but they are very small, take close up photos before taking apart, the springs (2) are weird.

Thank you, Guillermino. It's those screws that have been giving me some trouble. They're on there pretty tight. I need more leverage to get them off. I will definitely keep my camera close at hand, though. Either way, I can't wait to see what's going on in there. Thanks again guys, for the adivice. Best regards,

Wanted to bump this old thread, as I was thwacking away today when the same spring gave way. I have the doser off, but the allen wrenches I have available don't fit, and the hardware store is closed for Memorial Day. :( I was just curious if HappyBoy successfully completed the repair, did it require a replacement spring, or just re-seat the old one, any pics/advice,etc. Hubba-hubba-hubba-hubba-hubba! :D
EDIT: Mods, feel free to move thread to Grinders now if needed, it came this way from a search. ;)
