Hey, you switched the pictures around! Keeping the 100 pound to yourself, huh?
All kidding aside, I am impressed on the excellent grind pattern that the modified KA did. I never would have guessed that it was so perfect of a pattern. I have 2 of them myself, like them for their sturdiness, but again as you know the grind is not that good.

Glad you went ahead with this....I've been too busy/lazy/drinking to do mine.
My guess is the bottom grind is from the Kitchenaid.
In your post on HB you mentioned having to shim out the burrs due to bottoming of the auger. I have the same thing with the stock burrs on mine, it wouldn't actually zero. However it will grind fine enough for a 25 sec pull on the little Gaggia.
I'll let you know when/if mine gets done. The new mazzer burrs are just sitting on a shelf for now.
