Subject: Buying Grinder

I would like to buy a burr grinder that will work well for espresso.  I have a low end blade grinder, and a Hamilton Beach Espresso Machine.  I am not unhappy with the shots I pull.

I use fresh roasted italian roast (buy it green from sm), and shake my grinder up and down while grinding...to even it out more haha

I would just like to improve the taste...

I don't really want to spend over $200 on a grinder --- all of my $$ is going towards college tution :(

Any suggestions..

Pick up a used commercial grinder and never need to upgrade again.  Also, read the hundreds of other threads on here asking this EXACT same question....  Can be had for around $150 if you look for a deal. Mazzer, Rio, Nuova Simonelli, La Pavoni, Rancilio, etc...  Check here often:

having just recently  gone through this myself i can tell you unequivically that the money you spend on a good esspresso machine will be *wasted*
if you do not buy a good grinder. Therefore any money you spend ona crappy grinder will also be wasted unless you can resell or upgrade from whom you bought hte grinder.
I hvae an expobar Pulser and am now a proud owner of a Macap M4 stepless and even tho my Baratza Plus was a good grinder, it CANNOT compare with the Macap or any grinder in that class. Yes check out ebay, lost of good deals for used ones there.

Nemox Lux grinder is about $179.  Bare minimum for doing espresso, but the Titan Grinder Project rated it quite well.

Le'lit PL53 is one of the best buys right now.  It's a stepless grinder for $229 available at 1st-line.
