Hello to all, I know in one way or another this topic has probably been beaten up pretty well! However I am brand new to this site and about to make a major purchase(s) I am looking a purchasing a new Rancilio Sylvia V3 and either a Rocky DL or Vario..With all the reading I've done I am staring to sway towards the Vario..I really don't want to think about an upgrade for a long time as espresso is all I am wanting to grow old with. Yes, and of course my lovely wife! Any suggestions out there?

I bought a Vario, then a (gently) used Rocky fell into my lap (long story). I cannot fathom anyone buying a Rocky over a Vario these days. There was a time when I'm sure the Rocky was at the cutting edge of the price/performance curve, but at the current price it's hopelessly outmatched by the Vario (especially if you buy a refurbished unit directly from Baratza)
The first time you need to clean your grinder (and cleaning is required for any grinder), you will appreciate the Vario over the Rocky even more
I'm using the Rocky for my office setup, and it's still a competent grinder. But every day I'm reminded how much better the Vario is...
