Nobody ever said the W is better for VST baskets. And I see no reason to go into details here, especially since you have no intention of trying the VST baskets or any weight-based grinding (or loaded hopper grinding, for that matter).
The short answer is that one probably wouldn't be able to consistently grind fine enough to use VST baskets without keeping the Vario burrs loaded (i.e. loaded hopper grinding). For me it works, possibly because I'm using the Vario with a loaded hopper. This would be the same for the standard Vario or the W
I cannot get of how the same mechanism (if that is correct) in both grinders makes one more unpredictable that the other when you change the grind settings. Finally, if the grind is wrong there is no point of having correct dose.
This indicates your mindset on the matter, and perhaps shows a clue about why you so violently protest this new technology. Maybe it's not the grind setting that becomes unpredicatable, but instead the timing and the weight produced by timed-dose grinding.
Weight based control produces the same weight ground every time, no matter what bean or what grind setting.
Of course for single-dose grinding (such as you do), it wouldn't make any difference.
