As Joel said, there are a lot of variables but since you asked, I use my Preciso at a macro setting mostly between 14 and 16 and play with the micro to tweak for different beans.  If after grinding and tamping the shot is too quick (color becomes blonde fast with little or no crema), I adjust to a finer grind until the shot looks more like the picture on page 3 of this thread with nice dark crema.  You have to be cafefull not to get the burrs to touch each other.  I believe most Precisos are calibrated to burrs starting to touch at the 9 setting.  Mine is closer to 12.  

Of course, what matters the most is your taste so experiment until you're happy.

Nice review of the Preciso and a table that gives some settings.  Around 10 macro for espresso.

Like I said, every situation is different.  Hopefully these #s will help you.  But if you need to be lower than higher than these numbers don't be alarmed.  Just adjust to where you need to be.
