Yes, it is a 1999. What else can it do? Hold down papers Crack nuts (pick up and use bottom of grinder like hammer) Cause envy of a whole lot of new people Use as vase (keep flowers in water proof bag and place in hopper) and dozens of other things!
Oh, btw, I would not use it for grinding grain, the burrs are not right and I would guess that you would damage the grinder.

Well it isn't a direct comp to a Versalab but electronics aside, the major is to the SJ as the SJ is to the mini. Expect the flat burrs to accent the bass notes of the coffee, the chocolate, the cocoa and not the bright fruity notes. It is not better or worse than a conical, just different, some like the darker flavor (I know I do) and others like the brightness of the coffee. Different strokes so to speak.
The grind path from the grind chamber to the doser can retain a few g of grounds, just as it can in the SJ and the mini. I would just use a "tool" (plastic chop stick in my case but anything that fits will work) to reach into the grind path and sweep the few G in the path into the doser and I have very little issue with retention. I also modded the doser to sweep cleanly and the CBSJ mod will work just as well on the Major as it does on the SJ (the doser is the same, just a little taller on the Major).

that will be interesting to compare it with SJ and mini, that thing is heavy enough to require a permit for traveling, box is 52 pounds, who's idea was it buying that!!
