I got an older Mazzer Mini (the one with the on/off switch) and the doser is super-dirty - basically 10 years worth of coffee went through it and the previous owner never cleaned it.

I am trying to remove the screws holder the finger guard to the doser. In addition, the screws also hold the doser to the body. I attached a photo. Only way I can see removing these screws is with an allen type - Philips head? Anyone else have another idea? The finger guard is really preventing me from trying a regular screwdriver.

I use a short stubby screwdriver to remove the finger guard and group head screen.  Perhaps, something like this would work Click Here (www.amazon.com) Mine is from Homedepot and it is now my dedicated espresso machine/grinder screwdriver.  Allen type may work, but it would be too much work.

I have seen machine screws in that location with :
Hex heads, requiring the use of a wrench to loosen
Philips head screws
Blade head screws
Allan head screws requiring an Allan wrench to remove.

Get the device that matches the heads of the screws and use it to remove them.
Likely as not, you will need a short shank tool with the exception of an Allan wrench.
