Hi
I would like to know your thoughts on following grinders for a semi auto espresso machine (baby twin/ Isomac Venus/ Ascaso Dream):
Gaggia MDF - I have read only good on this grinder and have a feeling most of you would say I should choose this one, just not the prettiest on the counter.
Gran Maccino and iMini - I have read very little on these but would like your input if you have had experience with them.
Out of the above grinders only the MDF is a doser. I have read mixed views on the doser/doserless. which do you feel is better for the beginner?

The doser is only there to let your ground coffee go stale. Gran Macinino and iMini funny enough have same group, motor and burrs and both do a very decent job. Good luck, ciao, Pietro

Hi Boet, thought it best to answer in the Grinders thread--per your question from the Espresso Machine forum, I use a Macap stepless/doserless, of the 3 you posted here I was going to suggest look at Ascaso, lot of discussions here over the last few years on their grinders, many favorable reviews. I believe it is stepless which gives you a little more control in dialing in a grind setting. You could also try to track down a new/used Mazzer or Macap in South Africa but I think the Ascaso or Isomac would still both be solid choices.

Thanks for your post. I don't think we get the Macap at all in s/Africa. I have seen mazzer but it is extremely expensive. I might be able to get a good deal on a new mdf, equivalent of +-180 usd. The ascaso and isomac are about $100 more here. So that may be the clincher for me.
