Posted Tue Jul 31, 2012, 5:35am Subject: Baratza Vario issues
I have the Vario timer model and this morning my first double went good. went to grind for another double 18g and I only got about 12g out? so I tried again--same thing. cleaned out burrs and tried again but could never get much to come out of the chute? same coffee etc. Then it seemed that when I finally got my 18g dose, I kept choking the machine. Tried to recalibrate and everything seemed ok calibration wise but the grind all the sudden is way off. Not first time I have had issues with the calibration however. guess I will give baratza a call and maybe start over with a new grinder.
think the issue was the micro lever. Seemed this lever wouold float around between the top 2 finest settings. now it seems that it stays in one or the other. It must have actually locked into the finer setting cause the grind went super fine. went down a notch and all seems back to normal. Not sure how it happened?? after burning through 4-5 shots seems to be ok again for now.
