I've been trying to decide on a grinder for a bit and had been seriously looking at the Vario but really drooling over the Mazzer lineup. Tonight while browsing around I found the Mazzer Mini on sale at 1st-Line equipment for $500 shipped. I just couldn't pass it up. Apparently they lowered the price as part of their anniversary sale.
I never figured that the Vario would be my LAST grinder, merely something to keep me busy for a few years until I could upgrade. Now I found a Mazzer for only a bit more than the Vario.
Now I've officially spent more on my grinder than I have on my machine. Can't wait to get it.
One of the things I like about the Mazzers is their esteemed reputation for reliability. So, you just didn't buy a grinder which will do a very good job of grinding your coffee, you bought a grinder which will give you decades of reliable service, which were the two reasons why I bought one of them myself.

The mini is a darn good grinder, a great place to get started. Depending on where you want to go, you may upgrade later but it will not be because the grinder is wearing out or is of low quality. It should last you a lifetime in the home environment with proper care. Mazzer also does well in keeping resale value so if and when you want to upgrade, you will do well.
It is a good choice and congrats, you should enjoy it a lot and the espresso that you get because of it!
