I have "borrowed" from my daughter, a Sunbeam burr grinder (EM 480 I think...maybe...).
Now according to the books, they do a good job of grinding. But I wonder if the reviews I have read are produced by people who actually know anything about grinders and espresso or whether they are just talking garbage.
So. What are the informed opinions out there? Anyone got any ideas? IS the grind size consistent? Etc - all the usual.

Hi, if it is the EMO480 they do an OK job of grinding for espresso. It would be classified as a high end domestic grinder, they have their limitations in terms of build quality, consistency, longevity and number of grind settings (too few) If you want to move up from there you would be looking at low end Prosumer grinders or commercial grinders. If you'd like some recomendations, send me an e-mail (i'm in NZ too)

Thanks Kitt2000. I am well acquainted with build quality issues of Sunbeam products (DAMHIK). In fact I will never buy another Sunbeam product as long as I live. Their customer service is just as...ermm...better not say on here...
You can recommend here if you want to. But if not I will email.
