Just received my new Vario-W and it will not grind. I have struggled to make sure the bean hopper is in place and the notches aligned. It really took a lot of force to twist it into place. I've unlatched and latched it several time. But, when I hit the start button it simply does not grind. Very upsetting. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My first suggestion is to contact Baratza support, via e-mail or phone. There could be several reasons, and I'm sure they'd know all of them. Baratza's out-of-box problems are common, but they are very good at helping to fix them or supply replacements for broken ones.

agreed...given the time of night, if you're still up, you might want to check out the support pages of their website, as this could be a common issue that is easily remedied.

Dumb question but did you Tare the grinds bin and then set a weight value before hitting start?
Yes, the first dozen or so times with a new machine the hopper needs some force to get it to click, it hels to leave the top on to get a firm good grip on the hopper.
