I have a Precisio and it certainly does the job for my espresso needs now that I have mastered the adjustments. I find it has also been very good with other settings such as drip and french press, producing the desired grinds uniformly. Lately, using three different roasts from three different suppliers, I am getting a lot of fly away detritus in the grind. I don't know how to describe it other than it is similar to small popcorn skin hulls left over at the bottom of the popcorn bowl. The stuff sneaks out of the collection bin and adheres to the bin walls and is hard to ignore. Initially I thought it was a problem related to a specific roast, so I tried it with other roasts and beans and there seems to be no reduction in the amount of "flakes" or whatever in the grind or on the counter. . The particle size seems appropriate to the desired brewing method, but this little bit of extra is disconcerting to me. This is not noticable with espresso grind but is definitely there with more coarse settings. Has anyone a clue as to what is happening here? I plan to contact customer support at Baratza for their input, but thought I would first post here to see if there is a fix or an answer to this question among those who actually use the product daily. Hi. I think the popcorn skin like stuff you are referring to is what is called chafe or skin and it derives from the surface of the coffee bean. It's to be expected especially with dry processed beans. It flys around because of static. A wonderful rediscovered remedy consists of placing one or two drops of water on the beans prior to grinding. You must be single dosing in order to do this with ease. I have the same grinder and use it for my Trifecta MB. Some roasts have chaff and others don't. Last weeks roast had chaff flying all over the place. This week's Brazil had absolutely nothing. It's nice when there is very little to clean up. Take care!
