I have used my Infinity for the last 8 or so years and it has served me well. I use it every day mainly with my pour over. The last three times the grinds are seeping through my filter. I have determined that it appears the grind is stuck on fine even though I have it set on the lowest medium grind level. I did grind on fine over the weekend to pull an espresso shot. Apparently when I changed the setting back the machine has not responded. I have taken it apart and cleaned to no avail. Has anyone run into this and if so, is it fixable? Or, is it time for a new machine?
I have a 2 year old Infinity and have never experienced what you describe. I am not sure if the internals are the same, but on mine the plastic bean hopper twists into the top of the machine, clicking between settings. Inside, the outer burr is removable and simply sits over the inner burr.
Once or twice I have managed to somehow put the bean hopper in incorrectly, so it does not smoothly click but instead seems stuck very tightly. Removing and reinserting it fixed this problem -- does that seem like it could be your problem?
Is the grind noticeably finer than what you are used to and seem the same as what you pulled over the weekend? Have you changed coffee? Filters?

Setup is the same as you describe. The hopper twists off the same way. I've never inserted it wrong as it rotates like it always has. I have taken it apart and put it back on several times. I have cleaned it out thoroughly.
The strange part is it appears to grind normally. By that I mean that it grinds at the same speed on medium as it always has and grinds slower on fine...again like it always has. The medium grind appears to be the same grind size as always and there are no noticeable fines.
Haven't changed anything else either. Same filtered water, same water heating process, using a pour over clever dripper from sweet Maria's, same filters I have always used.
Thru this process I have decided to upgrade grinders and have ordered a baratza vario. Hope I am happy with the new purchase.
