Subject: Mazzer Mini E Burrs - Doser vs. Mod A&B vs. Super Jolly

I have seen several threads in the past on various forums discussing upgrading the Mazzer Mini burrs to the larger set that ships with the Mazzer Super Jolly.  What’s not clear is which version of the Mini is being discussed, looking at the specs I see the following:

Mini with Doser – 58mm burrs
Mini Mod A & B  – 64mm burrs
Super Jolly        – 64mm burrs

Is there a difference between the burr set that ships with the Mini Mod A&B and the Super Jolly?

This is the way I understand it.  The burr sizes you have listed are correct as far as size is concerned.

Most of the time when people are talking about swapping SJ burrs in to the Mini they are referring to the Mini E due to the fact that the SJ burrs are a drop in replacement on it.

The difference between the Mini E burrs and the SJ burrs is that the SJ burrs is a more aggressive burr which translates into faster grinding and according to most fluffier grinds.

As far as the dosered Mini goes, the SJ burrs have been put into it but it is a lot more involving and takes some modification.

I am sure that more knowledgeable people will give you more in depth information on this topic since it has been discussed many times

Don't put super Jolly burrs into a Mini E, they grind too agressively for the Mini Es lesser powered motor.

Dave that's simply not true. OP, do your research and you'll find most agree that SJ burrs in a Mini E is a simple, worthwhile upgrade with no perceivable effect on the motor under use in a home setting.

I changed to Super Jolly burrs in my Mini E type A about a year ago.  The grind time has fallen by about 40%... that's the main benefit as I don't see a significant change in the quality of the espresso.  Nevertheless it is a cheap and easy mod.
