I finally decided to pull the trigger on ordering some replacement burrs for my LSM FK (the flavors have continued to be bland since I got it, not as good as those from my Vario), but Cafeparts says it will be four weeks until their next order. And since I have a Pharos here, I decided to compare the burrs in case they could fit in the mean time (both are 68mm). Sure enough, check out how these bolt holes line up (pics below), and how the lower burr also has a similar key. Only bummer is the lower burr bolt snapped as I removed it. (edit, these are reverse threaded!)

The main difference I see is that the upper burr bolt recess on the FK burrs is deeper, so those bolts aren't long enough to mount the Pharos burr. Also, the LSM upper burr is not as snug of a fit on the shaft as the Pharos (I had to remove the burr from the Pharos with a mallet, which won't be possible with the FK), which has me a little nervous about future removal. How could I relieve this fit slightly?

Do you guys see any reason I shouldn't try this? I'm really excited to experience these burrs, which are surely in much better shape and have noticeably longer cutting length.

The good folks at St John's Ace Hardware gave me a lot of help with the grinder today, trying to relieve the fit on the lower burr, and using an Easy Out on the broken burr bolt (only to find that it was reverse threaded, d'oh!). Hopefully someone in the USA has one of these bolts :)
(Edit) Michaelo Espresso in Seattle DOES have these bolts in stock and mine should arrive today or tomorrow.

The upper burr is mounted, beauty!

I'm not sure if anyone is following this, but today the bolt arrived and I put everything back together. I wish it were earlier in the day so I could try more shots, but I wanted to post my first drinkable shot with the new burrs. Clearly, my technique needs some adjustment from Vario to this, but even this less than perfect shot seemed more memorable than most of the others I tried with my previous burr set. Placebo effect? Could be! More reviews to come.
