you're welcome. there are a ton of good guides, and I haven't read them all. However, the guide on this site, which I referenced, does a good job in explaining the basic science of milk frothing...and of course, understanding is always more helpful than just "do this". If you haven't come across it, there's a good you tube on learning the frothing technique with soap & water. It'll save you a lot of money and wasted milk if you decide to try it. Sorry, but I don't know the link. You could probably find it easily through the search tool here, or even with google.
What I didn't discuss was the milk comment you got from the barista. As he said, most people do best with 2% and it's a great starting point. However, once you start to get it, it won't matter if you're using nonfat, 1%, 2% or whole milk. Although they all froth a little different, you're going to learn to interact with the milk, rather than simply follow steps that are always exactly the same. You can even froth half&half!

I have a lot of pitchers. I pick them up if I see them at thrift stores (great place to score them) I got a few from someone that owned a coffee stand cleaning out his garage and I bought an espro (large) and another really tiny one with a bend in the middle.
I like 2 of the smallest one and plainest ones a lot. I wish I had gotten the espro in a smaller size now. I can work all of them but I am surprised I like the plain ones the best with the stock tip.

That pitcher will certainly enable you to do great frothing. Tthe only down side of it (besides having the name *$$ on it) is the lack of a pouring spout. This really only matters when you decide you want to try your hand at latte art.

A good pitcher really hey? I thought it was partially part of my struggle. Oh well can't blame it on the pitcher then! But indeed I do aspire to artistic milk pouring so I was aware that spout wasn't ideal.
