Found a used 1988 Olympia Cremina being sold for $2400.00. Comes with a couple of Reg Barber Tampers and Naked Portafilters as well as the stock stuff. Is this a good deal?

That's really steep if you ask me. I am willing (willing but not looking to sell it =P) to sell mine recently rebuild with OE tampers together with extra naked pf +complete original accessories etc for much less than that. So I would say, no, that's not a good deal, at all.

Haha. I see. Then it's probably not that far off. If it's in pristine condition, it's probably worth the price, depending on how much you want the newer version of Cremina. The new modern version was about $3k from Olympia if I remember correctly. You could get a very good alternative of used older model Cremina for about $1k +-(most of the time less than 1k) on ebay. The older version doesn't have the pressure gauge, less shiny, smaller boiler etc and some of the feature that the new one has. Essentially, the newer Cremina is just an older Cremina with some extra premium features. Functionality wise, they are very close to each other. one of the opinion from someone who has both old and new model

Personally, I'd never spend that $ for a new(er) Cremina, when you can pick-up an older, but well-maintained machine from other CGers (it may take a little time, but they'll show up on the Buy/Sell forum) ...

I need to keep my eyes peeled I guess...I want a cremina but the OE price on a new one is $3850, not sure if that includes shipping or any other little perks I would like either (i.e. naked PF).  I would love to find one in excellent condition for a nice price.  I'm kind of worried about buying one off ebay (there is one up for bid right now with a day or two left @ around $900).

I hear ya, I've been looking for a used Cremina for almost a year now. Next to impossible to find one where I am in Nova Scotia. That leaves online auctions which just seem to get ridiculous. I've put ads in the paper, kijiji, called all the antique dealers, have friends looking on my behalf. I thought I'd try posting a wanting to buy ad here on CG.com but this is my first post.

You are allowed to post a "wanted" on the BST with less than 10 posts. Just not a sell or trade posting.
Feel free to "reach for that dream machine!"
Make sure you list your real name in full.
It would help to list a price your willing to pay. Folks are fair around here, and will treat you with respect.  (unless you say $300 for a Cremina.)
